How does KYBELLA® (deoxycholic acid) injection 10 mg/ml work?
When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® permanently destroys the fat cells. Your body's natural metabolism then processes the fat cleared from the treatment area. Once the fat cells are gone, you're left with a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin.
The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps break down fat.
Sclerotherapy (For unwanted spider veins)
Sclerotherapy is a technique used by Dermatology Associates of Lancaster using FDA approved sclerosing agent to remove unwanted spider veins on the lower extremities. Asclera® (polidocanol) is injected into the veins to, over time, destroy the blood vessels. On average, 85% of the patients studied were satisfied or very satisfied after their Asclera® treatment and they were significantly more satisfied with Asclera® than with either sodium tetradecyl or the placebo. It is important to note that compression stockings are typically recommended for four weeks after the procedure and it may take two treatments, and it is very important to keep the areas away from sunlight while healing.
Laser therapy (For brown spot removal, vein removal, tattoo removal, and light skin resurfacing)
Selective photothermolysis is a fundamental principle underlying the low-risk laser treatment for vascular lesions, pigmented lesions, and tattoos. At Dermatology Associates of Lancaster, we have several lasers that are used to treat a variety of cosmetic skin concerns. Our wide range of lasers allows us to treat everything from unwanted blood vessels to age spots to tattoo removal. Pricing varies per size of the area treated and the number of treatments that are required. Currently, we treat:
- Vascular growths, such as broken blood vessels and spider veins
- Hair removal
- Age spots, such as lentigos and freckles
- Tattoo removal
Dr. Mueller performs all the laser treatments herself. It is important to note that multiple sessions may be required to achieve optimal results. Strict sun avoidance is emphasized on any areas treated by lasers and for this reason we typically will laser from the late summer through the early spring.
